So, what is e957?
E957, also known as thaumatin, is a natural sweetener derived from the fruit of the West African plant Thaumatococcus daniellii. This protein-based sweetener is approximately 2,000 times sweeter than sugar, making it a popular choice for low-calorie and sugar-free products. Unlike artificial sweeteners, E957 has a clean taste that does not leave a bitter aftertaste. In addition to being used in food and beverages, E957 is also commonly found in pharmaceuticals, oral care products, and cosmetics as a flavor enhancer or sweetening agent.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
