Is e212 vegan?
E212 is a food ingredient that belongs to the class of preservatives. It's also known as potassium benzoate, a potassium salt of benzoic acid. This white, granular powder is used as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent to extend the shelf life of a wide variety of food products such as juices, jams, sauces, and carbonated drinks. E212 works by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms that can spoil food or cause illness. However, excessive consumption can lead to health problems such as allergic reactions, asthma, and even cancer. Therefore, the use of E212 is regulated and limited according to safety standards.
