So, what is sodium para-hydroxybenzoate?
Sodium para-hydroxybenzoate, also known as sodium benzoate, is a white crystalline powder commonly used as a food preservative due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. It is found in a variety of processed and packaged foods such as soft drinks, fruit juices, and condiments. Sodium para-hydroxybenzoate is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies, but some studies have linked it to potential health risks such as hyperactivity in children and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Despite this, it remains a widely used ingredient in the food industry.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
