So, what is e468?
E468 is a food ingredient commonly known as cross-linked sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. It is a modified cellulose derivative that is used in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It is an odorless and tasteless powder that dissolves in water to form a viscous solution. E468 is widely used in the production of various food products such as ice cream, salad dressings, sauces, and processed meats. It is also used in the production of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial applications. Despite its widespread use, E468 is considered safe for human consumption by regulatory bodies.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
