So, what is e481?
E481 is a food additive commonly used in the food industry as an emulsifier. It is made up of two components, glycerol and fatty acids, which are derived from natural vegetable oils. This ingredient is often used in bakery products like bread and cakes, as well as in dairy products such as ice cream and cheese. It helps to improve the texture, stability, and shelf-life of these products by keeping the oil and water components of the food evenly dispersed. E481 is considered safe for consumption by regulatory bodies, but some individuals may have allergic reactions to it.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
