So, what is e553?
E553 is a food additive that is widely used in the food industry. It is also known as magnesium silicate or talc, which is a white, odorless, and tasteless powder. It is commonly used as an anti-caking agent, which prevents the formation of clumps in powdered foods such as spices, dried herbs, and powdered milk. Additionally, it is also used as a thickener in certain food products such as sauces, soups, and dessert mixes. E553 is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies, but excessive consumption may cause gastrointestinal problems.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
