So, what is e555?
E555 is a commonly used food ingredient that you may know as potassium aluminum sulfate. It is a white crystalline powder with a slightly sweet and astringent taste. E555 is used as a food additive for its ability to stabilize and preserve various foods such as baked goods, cheese, and pickles. It is also used as a leavening agent in baking, as well as in the production of processed meats and dairy products. While E555 has been deemed safe for consumption by various regulatory bodies, some studies have suggested that high intake of this ingredient may have adverse effects on health.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
