So, what is ergocalciferolo?
Ergocalciferol, also known as vitamin D2, is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in bone health and calcium regulation. This nutrient is synthesized by plants, fungi, and some types of bacteria, making it a common dietary source for vegans and vegetarians. Unlike vitamin D3, which is primarily derived from animal products, ergocalciferol is found in fortified foods such as soy milk, cereals, and orange juice. While both vitamin D2 and D3 can provide health benefits, some studies suggest that D3 may be more effective in raising blood levels of vitamin D.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
