So, what is fécule d?
Fécule d, also known as potato starch, is a fine white powder that is extracted from the tubers of potatoes. It is a gluten-free and grain-free ingredient, making it a popular choice for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Fécule d is often used as a thickener in sauces, soups, and gravies because it has a higher viscosity than other starches. It also has a neutral flavor, so it won't affect the taste of the dish. Additionally, fécule d can be used in baking to create a lighter, fluffier texture in cakes, cookies, and other treats.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
