So, what is folacin?
Folacin, also known as folic acid or vitamin B9, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an essential role in DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, and cell growth. It is naturally found in leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits, beans, and fortified cereals. A deficiency in folacin can lead to megaloblastic anemia and neural tube defects in newborns. Adequate intake of folacin is crucial for pregnant women, as it helps prevent birth defects. Supplementation with folacin has also been linked to reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
