It is derived from phosphoric acid and potassium hydroxide, and is generally recognized as safe by the US Food and Drug Administration. Fosfato de potasio is commonly used in dairy products, processed meats, and baked goods to improve texture, prevent spoilage, and enhance flavor. It is also used in the production of soft drinks, as well as in pharmaceuticals and fertilizers.
