So, what is gehydrolyseerd soja-eiwit?
Hydrolyzed soy protein, or "gehydrolyseerd soja-eiwit" in Dutch, is a food ingredient made from soybeans that have undergone a process of hydrolysis, in which enzymes break down the protein into smaller peptides. This results in a powder that is rich in amino acids and has a high protein content. Hydrolyzed soy protein is often used as a flavor enhancer and thickener in a variety of food products, such as soups, sauces, and snacks. It also has functional properties that make it useful in the production of meat substitutes and other vegetarian products. As a source of protein, hydrolyzed soy protein is considered to be a healthy and sustainable alternative to meat and dairy products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
