So, what is gousses de vanille épuisée?
"Gousses de vanille épuisée" is a French term that translates to "exhausted vanilla pods." These are dried, dark brown or black, and often wrinkled vanilla bean pods that have been used to infuse their rich, aromatic flavor into a recipe. While they may no longer have the same potency as fresh vanilla pods, they can still add a subtle hint of vanilla flavor to desserts, baked goods, and other culinary creations. These spent vanilla pods are often used to make vanilla sugar or vanilla extract by steeping them in a simple syrup or alcohol.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
