So, what is grasso vegetale?
Grasso vegetale, also known as vegetable fat, is a type of fat derived from plants, such as palm, coconut, and soybean. It is commonly used in the food industry as a substitute for animal-based fats, such as butter or lard, due to its lower cost and health benefits. Grasso vegetale is often used in baked goods, snacks, and processed foods, as it helps improve texture, flavor, and shelf life. However, there are concerns about the sustainability and environmental impact of its production, especially when it comes from palm oil.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
