So, what is huile de hydrogénée?
"Huile de hydrogénée" is a type of oil that has undergone a hydrogenation process, which involves adding hydrogen atoms to unsaturated fatty acids to make them more solid and stable at room temperature. This process gives the oil a longer shelf life and makes it suitable for use in a wide range of food products, including baked goods, margarine, and snack foods. However, hydrogenation also creates trans fats, which have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. As a result, many food manufacturers have moved away from using "huile de hydrogénée" in their products in favor of healthier alternatives.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
