So, what is huile de palme non hydrogénee?
Huile de palme non hydrogénée, or non-hydrogenated palm oil, is a vegetable oil derived from the fruit of the oil palm tree. Unlike hydrogenated palm oil, which undergoes a process that increases its shelf life but also increases its trans fat content, non-hydrogenated palm oil remains in its natural state. It is a popular ingredient in many food products, particularly in baking and frying, due to its high smoke point and neutral flavor. Non-hydrogenated palm oil is also used in the production of cosmetics and personal care products. However, the production of palm oil has been linked to deforestation and habitat destruction, making sustainable sourcing an important consideration when using this ingredient.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
