So, what is ijzerlactaat?

Ijzerlactaat, also known as iron lactate, is a food ingredient that is commonly used to fortify foods with iron. It is a white or yellowish powder that is soluble in water and has a neutral taste. Ijzerlactaat is a source of non-heme iron, which is less readily absorbed by the body than heme iron found in meat products. Therefore, it is often added to foods such as cereals, breads, and infant formulas to help meet the recommended daily intake of iron. Ijzerlactaat is considered safe for consumption and has no known adverse effects when used in recommended amounts.
