So, what is jackfruit?

Jackfruit is a tropical fruit that has recently gained popularity as a vegan meat alternative due to its meat-like texture and ability to absorb flavors. It is the largest tree-borne fruit and can weigh up to 100 pounds! The fruit is covered in a spiky green skin and inside, it has edible yellow flesh and large seeds that can also be eaten when cooked. Jackfruit is a good source of fiber and contains various nutrients such as vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium. Its versatility in cooking makes it a unique ingredient, as it can be used in savory or sweet dishes, including curries, tacos, burgers, and even desserts.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like jackfruit?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
