So, what is jarabe de glucosa de maíz?
Jarabe de glucosa de maíz, also known as corn syrup, is a sweetener made from corn starch that has been hydrolyzed with enzymes to break down the glucose molecules. This viscous, transparent liquid is commonly used in food manufacturing due to its ability to enhance sweetness, texture, and shelf life. It has a neutral flavor and high viscosity, which makes it a popular ingredient in confectionery, baking, and beverage industries. Jarabe de glucosa de maíz also serves as a humectant, preventing food from drying out, and as a bulking agent, adding volume and texture to various products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
