So, what is krenten?
Krenten are small, sweet, and chewy dried currants that are commonly used in traditional Dutch pastries and baked goods. These tiny black raisin-like fruits are made by drying and then rubbing the seeds from the Corinth grape, which grows in the Mediterranean region. Krenten have a distinctive tart and slightly sweet flavor, making them perfect for adding to bread, cakes, and cookies. They are also a popular ingredient in traditional Dutch holiday treats like stollen and oliebollen. Krenten are a rich source of vitamins and minerals, and their small size makes them easy to incorporate into a wide variety of recipes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
