So, what is lactate de sódium?
Lactate de sodium, also known as sodium lactate, is a versatile food ingredient that is commonly used as a preservative, flavor enhancer, and pH regulator in a variety of food products. It is a salt derived from the natural fermentation of lactic acid, which is produced by bacteria during the fermentation of dairy products. Sodium lactate is also used as a humectant, which means it helps to retain moisture in food products, making them more succulent and fresh for longer periods of time. It has a mild, slightly salty taste and is often used in processed meats, seafood, baked goods, and sauces. As a food additive, lactate de sodium is considered safe for consumption by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other regulatory bodies.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
