Is sodium chloride vegan?

Commercial sodium chloride is produced either by mining underground rock salt deposits or by evaporating water from oceans and salt-rich inland brines. Sodium chloride is classified as vegan because it is purely mineral in origin and is produced without animal-derived inputs.
