So, what is lacticacid?

Lactic acid is a natural organic acid that is commonly found in dairy products such as yogurt, sour cream, and cheese. It is also produced by the human body during intense exercise, causing the muscles to burn and ache. Lactic acid has a tart taste and is often used as a food preservative, as it inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria. It is also used as a flavor enhancer in various food products, such as salad dressings, pickles, and sauces. Additionally, lactic acid is used in the production of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and biodegradable plastics.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like lacticacid?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
