So, what is lecitine?
Lecithin is a naturally occurring fatty substance found in many plant and animal tissues. It is commonly used as an emulsifier, meaning it helps mix oil and water-based ingredients in food products. Lecithin is often derived from soybeans, but can also be found in egg yolks and other sources. It is commonly used in baked goods, chocolate, and processed foods to improve texture, stability, and shelf life. Lecithin has also been linked to potential health benefits such as improving heart health and brain function, although more research is needed to fully understand its effects.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
