So, what is lion's mane?
Lion's mane, also known as Hericium erinaceus, is a mushroom with a distinctive appearance and a long history of use in traditional medicine. It is native to Asia, Europe, and North America and is characterized by its shaggy, white spines that resemble a lion's mane. This unique culinary ingredient has a delicate, seafood-like flavor and a texture similar to crab or lobster meat. Lion's mane is a good source of antioxidants, polysaccharides, and beta-glucans, which have been shown to have immune-boosting properties and may help improve cognitive function. It can be enjoyed fresh or dried and is a popular ingredient in soups, stir-fries, and vegetarian dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
