So, what is maize oil?
Maize oil, also known as corn oil, is a vegetable oil that is extracted from the germ of maize (corn) kernels. It has a mild flavor and is generally pale yellow in color, making it a popular choice for cooking and frying. Maize oil contains high levels of unsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid, which can help to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Additionally, its high smoke point makes it ideal for high-heat cooking methods such as stir-frying and deep-frying. Maize oil is also commonly used in the production of margarine, mayonnaise, and salad dressings.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
