So, what is mannitol?
Mannitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that can be found in fruits, vegetables, and fungi. This ingredient is commonly used as a sweetener and a bulking agent in many sugar-free and low-calorie products, such as chewing gum, candies, and baked goods. Mannitol is about half as sweet as sugar and has a cooling effect in the mouth, which makes it a popular choice for breath mints and other oral care products. Additionally, mannitol has been studied for its potential health benefits, such as its ability to reduce inflammation and improve kidney function.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
