So, what is marsala?
Marsala is a fortified wine hailing from the region of Marsala in Sicily, Italy. This amber-colored wine is made using a blend of white grapes, such as Grillo, Inzolia, and Catarratto, which are fortified with a grape spirit and aged in oak barrels. Marsala is famous for its distinctive nutty and caramelized flavor profile, which can range from sweet to dry. It's a popular ingredient in many Italian recipes, especially in savory dishes such as chicken marsala and veal marsala, where it adds a rich depth of flavor and a subtle sweetness.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
