So, what is lactic starter?
Lactic starter is a food ingredient used in the fermentation process to make various dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, and sour cream. It's a combination of lactic acid bacteria strains that convert lactose, the sugar present in milk, into lactic acid. The lactic acid created during this process helps to lower the pH level of the milk, creating a tangy, acidic flavor and increasing the shelf life of the final product. Lactic starter also plays a crucial role in the development of the desired texture and aroma of dairy products, making it a key ingredient in the dairy industry.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
