So, what is metilceluloză?
Methylcellulose is a versatile food ingredient that is derived from cellulose, which is the most abundant organic compound found in nature. It is a white, odorless, and tasteless powder that is soluble in water and other polar solvents. Methylcellulose is widely used in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It is especially popular in vegan and vegetarian cuisine as a plant-based alternative to animal-derived ingredients like gelatin. Methylcellulose has the unique property of gelling when heated, which makes it ideal for creating vegan meat substitutes and other plant-based foods.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
