So, what is mono- and diglyceride?
Mono- and diglycerides are a type of emulsifier commonly used in the food industry to improve the texture and consistency of processed foods. They are derived from natural sources such as plant and animal fats, and are generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies. Mono- and diglycerides are often used in baked goods, dairy products, and margarine to prevent separation and extend shelf life. These versatile ingredients are also used in non-food applications such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. While there is some debate about their health effects, mono- and diglycerides are generally considered safe in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
