So, what is monoammonium phosphate?
Monoammonium phosphate is a chemical compound composed of one molecule of ammonium and one molecule of phosphate. It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and commonly used as a food ingredient. Monoammonium phosphate is often used as a leavening agent in baked goods such as cakes, bread, and muffins. It reacts with baking soda to produce carbon dioxide gas, which helps the dough or batter rise. Monoammonium phosphate is also used as a source of phosphorus and nitrogen in fertilizer and as a flame retardant in certain applications.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
