So, what is myristic acid?
Myristic acid is a saturated fatty acid commonly found in plants and animals. It is a white, crystalline solid with a waxy texture and a faint, nutty odor. Myristic acid is used in the food industry as a flavoring agent, as well as a preservative and a thickener. It is also used in the production of cosmetics and soaps, due to its moisturizing properties. In the human body, myristic acid plays a role in energy metabolism and is found in high concentrations in breast milk. Despite its saturated nature, myristic acid has been shown to have some potential health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering effects.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
