So, what is natriumnitriet?
Natriumnitriet, also known as sodium nitrite, is a chemical compound that is commonly used as a preservative in processed meats. It works by inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria, and also gives meats their characteristic pink color and unique flavor. However, there are concerns about the potential health risks associated with consuming natriumnitriet, including an increased risk of cancer and other health problems. As such, many consumers are opting for natural and organic alternatives to processed meats that contain this controversial ingredient.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
