So, what is nootmuskaat?
Nootmuskaat, also known as nutmeg, is a warm, aromatic spice that is native to Indonesia. It is derived from the seed of the evergreen nutmeg tree, which produces a hard, brownish fruit. The seed is ground into a fine powder, which has a slightly sweet and nutty flavor with hints of cinnamon and clove. Nootmuskaat is commonly used in both sweet and savory dishes, such as pies, cakes, custards, soups, and stews, as well as in some alcoholic beverages. It is also prized for its medicinal properties, including its ability to aid digestion and alleviate pain.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
