So, what is orotic acid?
Orotic acid, also known as vitamin B13, is a naturally occurring compound that plays an important role in the metabolism of nucleic acids. It is a white crystalline powder with a slightly bitter taste and is water-soluble. Orotic acid is found in milk, whey, and yeast, and is commonly used in the production of supplements and infant formulas. It has been studied for its potential health benefits, including improving athletic performance and reducing the risk of liver disease. While orotic acid is generally safe, high doses may cause gastrointestinal upset, so it is important to follow recommended dosages.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
