So, what is partially hydrogenated oil?

Partially hydrogenated oil is a type of fat that has undergone a chemical process to make it more stable, giving it a longer shelf life and making it resistant to spoilage. This process involves adding hydrogen atoms to liquid vegetable oils, which turns them into a solid form, similar to saturated fats. However, unlike natural saturated fats, partially hydrogenated oils contain trans fats, which have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. Because of this, many food manufacturers have begun to phase out the use of partially hydrogenated oils in their products.
