So, what is phosphate d'ammonium?
Phosphate d'ammonium, also known as ammonium phosphate, is a food ingredient commonly used as a leavening agent in baked goods. It is a white crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water, making it easy to incorporate into doughs and batters. Ammonium phosphate releases carbon dioxide gas when heated, causing doughs to rise and giving baked goods a light and fluffy texture. In addition to its leavening properties, ammonium phosphate also acts as a nutrient source for yeast, helping to promote fermentation and enhance the flavor and aroma of baked goods. However, it is important to note that excessive consumption of foods containing ammonium phosphate may have negative health effects and should be consumed in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
