So, what is plant fiber?
Plant fiber refers to the indigestible portion of plant-based foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. This nutrient-rich component of plants is an essential part of a healthy diet, aiding in digestion and promoting regular bowel movements. Plant fiber comes in two main types: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance that can help lower cholesterol and control blood sugar levels. Insoluble fiber adds bulk to stools, making them easier to pass and preventing constipation. Including a variety of plant-based foods in your diet can ensure you get adequate amounts of both types of fiber.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
