So, what is polytetylene glycerol/glycol/peg?
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a water-soluble, odorless, and tasteless compound that is widely used in the food industry as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickener. PEG is a type of polymer made from ethylene oxide, and its properties vary depending on the length of its chain. PEGs with shorter chains are liquid, while those with longer chains are waxy solids. PEG is commonly found in baked goods, chewing gum, candy, and soft drinks, and is considered safe for consumption by regulatory agencies around the world. However, some individuals may experience allergic reactions to PEG, and its use in food products is regulated to ensure its safety.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
