So, what is potassium alum?

Potassium alum is a naturally occurring mineral salt commonly used as a food additive and in various industrial applications. It is a type of alum, a double sulfate of aluminum and potassium, and has astringent and antimicrobial properties. Potassium alum is often added to foods like pickles and baking powder to help stabilize them and prevent spoilage. It is also used as a coagulant in the production of cheese and as a clarifying agent in the production of beer and wine. In cosmetics, potassium alum is used as a natural deodorant and antiperspirant. Despite its many uses, the consumption of large amounts of potassium alum may be harmful to health, so it is important to use it in moderation.
