So, what is potassium aluminium silicate?
Potassium aluminium silicate is a food additive commonly used as an anti-caking agent to prevent clumping in dry foods like spices, seasonings, and powdered mixes. It is a synthetic compound made by combining potassium, aluminium, and silicate, and is approved by the FDA as safe for human consumption. Potassium aluminium silicate has a fine, white powder-like texture and is odorless and tasteless. It is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial applications. Despite some concerns about the safety of aluminium in food, the amount of potassium aluminium silicate used in food is considered safe and is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
