So, what is potassium palmitate?
Potassium palmitate is a compound that is derived from the fatty acid palmitic acid and the mineral potassium. It is commonly used as an emulsifier in food and personal care products, helping to blend ingredients that would otherwise separate. As a food ingredient, it is typically added to baked goods, dairy products, and processed meats. Potassium palmitate has also been used in the production of soaps and detergents due to its ability to create a rich and creamy lather. It is considered safe for consumption in small amounts, and has been approved by regulatory agencies such as the FDA.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
