So, what is présure végétale?
Présure végétale is a plant-based ingredient that is commonly used in the production of cheese and other dairy products. This natural coagulant is derived from various sources such as fig leaves, thistle, and some types of bacteria. Unlike traditional animal-based rennet, this non-animal substitute allows for vegan and lactose-free cheese production. Présure végétale works by activating enzymes that help to separate milk solids from liquid, resulting in the formation of curds that can be further processed into a variety of cheese types. This sustainable and ethical alternative is becoming increasingly popular among consumers who value environmentally conscious and cruelty-free food choices.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
