So, what is quinina?
Quinine is a bitter crystalline alkaloid derived from the bark of the cinchona tree. It has a long history of medicinal use as an antimalarial drug and was once used to treat other ailments such as leg cramps and fever. In addition to its medicinal properties, quinine is also used as a flavoring agent in tonic water and other beverages, giving them a distinctive bitter taste. It has a unique flavor profile that adds depth and complexity to cocktails and can be used to enhance the taste of certain foods. However, quinine is a potent substance, and its consumption in large amounts can lead to adverse health effects.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
