So, what is rind?
Rind is the tough, outer layer of certain foods, such as cheese or citrus fruits. It forms a protective barrier that helps keep the food fresh and prevents spoilage. In cheese, the rind can be edible or not, depending on the type of cheese. Some cheeses, like brie or camembert, have a soft, bloomy rind that adds flavor and texture to the cheese. Citrus rinds are often used as a flavoring agent in cooking or baking and can be candied or zested for added taste. The use of rind in food preparation can add complexity and depth to dishes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
