So, what is schwarzkümmel?
Schwarzkümmel, also known as black cumin or nigella seeds, is a spice that has been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine and culinary practices. It is native to Southwest Asia and is derived from the seeds of the Nigella sativa plant. These small, black seeds have a slightly bitter, pungent taste and a distinct aroma that is often described as earthy and peppery. Schwarzkümmel is a versatile ingredient that is commonly used to add depth and complexity to dishes such as curries, breads, and vegetable dishes. In addition to its culinary uses, it is also believed to have numerous health benefits, such as reducing inflammation and improving digestive health.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
