So, what is sirop de betterave?
Sirop de betterave, also known as beet syrup, is a natural sweetener derived from the juice of sugar beets. The syrup has a deep, rich brown color and a thick, sticky consistency that makes it ideal for use in a variety of recipes. Unlike refined sugar, which is heavily processed and stripped of its natural nutrients, sirop de betterave retains many of the beneficial compounds found in sugar beets, including antioxidants and minerals like iron and potassium. This makes it a healthier alternative to traditional sweeteners, with a unique earthy flavor that complements both sweet and savory dishes. Use it as a topping for pancakes or waffles, as a glaze for roasted vegetables or meat, or as a substitute for sugar in your favorite baking recipes.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
