So, what is sorbitol-d?
Sorbitol-D, also known as D-sorbitol, is a sugar alcohol commonly used as a food additive. It is derived from glucose and has a sweet taste with approximately 60% of the sweetness of regular sugar. Sorbitol-D is often used as a low-calorie sweetener in sugar-free and reduced-sugar products, such as candies, chewing gum, and baked goods. It also has properties that can help to extend the shelf life of food products by preventing the growth of microorganisms. Additionally, sorbitol-D is sometimes used in pharmaceuticals as a laxative and in personal care products as a moisturizing agent.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
