So, what is spermaceticetyl palmitate sperm oil?
Spermaceticetyl palmitate sperm oil is a natural wax ester derived from the head of the sperm whale, historically used for its excellent emollient and moisturizing properties in the cosmetic industry. It is composed of spermaceti, a waxy substance found in the head of the sperm whale, and acetic and palmitic acids. Spermaceticetyl palmitate sperm oil is often used in luxury skincare products due to its ability to provide a silky texture and long-lasting hydration to the skin. However, due to the ethical concerns surrounding the harvesting of sperm whale oil, it is now banned in many countries and has been replaced with synthetic alternatives.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
